Ok that makes more sense. What was the thought process in the two transmission setup? When youve had enough educating (or trying too) say so everytime I get more info it just makes me want to ask another question. Thanks
The reason for the tow gearboxes in one case was cost.
First there was the C6. It was a three speed transmission. Then it was modified by adding an overdrive gearset in the front. Overdrive was only used after the rear trans was in 1:1, and it was named the E4OD. Later the E4OD was beefed up and had more sensors and was renamed 4R100.
Keeping the same layout, but making it a bit larger, allowed the same transfer line to be used in the transmission plant. New transfer lines cost many millions of dollars, so reusing one is a big driver. The overdrive gearset in the front now could be used with the rear trans in any gear and it was named the 5R110 TorqShift.
Replacing the tranny cooler and flushing the lines really well is a wise idea.. Little particles in the fluid can wreak havoc on the solenoids.. The junk from the other torched slushboxes can't ever be cleaned from the cooler, that's why it needs to be replaced..
Update....CertiFRIED replaced tranny and the rep more or less dared him to break it again. (wrong redneck to dare for breakin ****) Timmy took off the chip so its stock. He just called me for a potential ride home Hes on the road now with the tow haul light blinking at about the 40 mile mark since he left their shop

I think at this point it's safe to say that they don't know what they are doing here. Either that or your friend is just hell on these things, but I think that 40 miles is a little soon for something to crap out.
Although I would advise him to have it stock for atleast a few hundred miles though, but that's just me.
UPDATE.......1500miles on 2nd certFRIED trans toast. p0611 /p0766 / p2703 codes he called and asked me to look up for him. No overdrive and towhaul flashing. I am VERY proud of by buddy, He refrained from parking the truck in the showroom.
