Well it happened. I needed 4 wheel drive and it didn't work. I have an '06 F-150 4x4 Lariat. I love this truck, never had a problem until recently. It has about 80k miles on it and has been excellent in off road conditions. My 4 wheel drive won't engage. I switch it to 4 high or low and the light won't come on the dash and it will not engage. Any ideas what I may be looking at here? Thanks for any input.
Also, it may or may not be related, but I just had a new set of tires put on it. It was immediately afterward that my 4 wheel drive quit working. Could they have accidently done something while taking my wheels on and off? Or could it be in the switch?
sounds like the shift motor. Try moving the truck fwd or back a little, sometimes it helps. If that doesn't work it is most likely the shift motor, but a good start would be to check your fuses.
the electronics go bad all the time. my dad had a 98 f150 and the same thing was happening.... he got under the truck and the wire for the t case shifter was unplugged!
