Help, problem with manual hubs not locking
I just bought a F150 for an around the house work truck and deer hunting. The guy I bought it from told me the 4wd wouldn't engage and he thought it was a problem in the transfer case.
I rotated the hub locks to lock (OEM hubs I think) then put the vehicle in neutral and engaged the manual transfer case to 4WD high and low. I could feel the unit engage and the dash lights come on. The front shaft turns but the wheels aren't engaging. I believe the hubs are shot.
I went on the Warn website and saw in the hub application that they dont make hubs for the 88-89 model year???? The Mile Marker website shows that their unit (104's) will fit my model but I am not sure after looking on the Warn site.
Some research showed that Ford used a different front axel for the 88-89 model year. I think I have a Dana 44 axel but am unsure (any help). When I go on Bronco Graveyard they show aftermarked lockers for the Dana 44.
Am I looking at the right hubs? I dont want to spend money ordering these only to find out they are the wrong ones.
Anybody else come across this issue? Please help.
Joe
