Are you talking about the clutch packs? Or spider gears? Both?
You may want to consider putting in a 10.5 LS carrier from a SD.
Much beefier than the 10.25. They pop up for sale once in a while,
or you could check with your local 4x4 & driveline shops to see if they
have any take-offs.
Thanks to all that replied. I guess that I should have given more info as the LS I might tackle is not a 10.25 but a 8.8 for my Ranger. (Hey, it's a Ford) I thought that the prices would be close enough for Hand Grenades.
I had found this LS for sale but when I had the seller pop the cover off it looked like a bomb had gone off inside. I could probably end up with it for nothing so I was fishing for the cost factor.
I have found brand new LS's for around $250.00 so that might be a better way to go.
Thanks for all the help.
Merry Christmas to all of you and your loved ones.
I broke the ring and pinion teeth on my 95 F-350 dual rear axle a local shop rebuilt it with new gaers and speed sensor for 1485 dollars and that was with a 95 dollar next day shipping charge, overall I thought they did a lot of work for a very reasonable amount........

of course I got new bearings and gear set also got a speed sensor ring, it looked like a hand grenade went of in there.....it was alot of work I was happy.....
No, seriously, I made it to hook to my air intake to check for leaks. T remove the Napa filter and hook this in it's place. I use compressed air to around 20 lbs and spray all the connections and/or hoses and check for bubbles. Worked great. Only used it once. It has an air valve that I control the pressure with and then shut it off.
could have sworn the 00-01 ranger fx-4 had an auburn in it and was recalled due to dragging the tires around corners.......
in our mustangs we used to pack the clutches so tight that we had to mount the carrier in a vise and install one axle shaft in the side gear and spin the spiders in with a pole on the axle. they never opened up in our cars and in mine i ran 28 10.5-15 mickey thompson et drag tires on a 5 speed car runing low 11's on motor.
