Ya northern indiana is kinda chilly at times. And I wasnt aware that winter fuel made a difference in fuel mileage. That would make sense because this started about when they would have switched to winter fuel. Maybe my truck just doesnt like winter fuel lol.
check your tire pressure.cold weather lowers it. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...d-weather.html
if you haven't checked this yet.dont be surprised if your tires are low.low tire pressure eats fuel due to higher resistance.as the temp drops,so will the pressure in your tires.
be sure to check the tires at least monthly.
long idle times(due to warm up) greatly effect mpg,as your burning fuel sitting still.(those who practice hypermiling will actually turn their engines off at stop lights with proven gains while doing so.so if you think it doesn't effect mpg.......think again. )
285/75 Dayton timberline Mt's. Soon to be 285/75 general tire at2's.
mudders are very aggressive tread of course.which increases resistance.
they are softer as well and don't wear very good on pavement.
mudders although they look really cool, are very expensive tire to run due to lower fuel mileage and faster wear.
they really are only great for looks and traction in the mud.
wise choice going to some at's instead.
(you will also enjoy lower road noise in the cab.not that you have ever heard those loud MT's over your radio blasted tho we where all once young, and tossed our $ away on the wrong things before ps.it was worth it tho.so enjoy it.)
Wish I could get diesel for $2.70/gal. I filled up yesterday at $3.56/gal. As far as 16 again, heck no! I'd never live through that twice. 26 again, oh yea!!
ha ha where in the same boat. I'm 17! you only drive 60 miles a week? I'm putting on about 40 miles a day!
and the cheapest diesel around here is 2.79 (only problem is that its 10 miles away) and no i dont just drive there to get fuel
I need to get bigger tires on the back of my truck. The ones i have currently are slightly smaller than stock, but the price was right
i know what you mean i just got some free tires the other day these one have tread so i could care less that there smaller then stock at least ill be able to move
Between the warm up time and getting less mileage on winter blend fuel, you could easily be 3-5 mpg less than in the summer. The reason semi trucks mileage doesn't change much is because once started they tend to stay running and moving for many hours before shutting off. Even then it's not uncommon to lose a mpg in the winter.
I tied teaching my kids that it's just as easy to keep the top half of the tank full as the bottom half. Never did sink in though. They seem to like to run around with the fuel light blinking to see how far they got before being stranded. I never figured out the "why" part.
Lets do some maths. 1 US gallon equals roughly 3.8 litres. $2.70/g equals $0.71US/litre. With current conversion that equals about $0.80AUS. I paid $1.25AUS/litre today. Thats about $1.10/litreUS which gives $4.18US/gal. I buy around 120litres every 4-5days. 120l @ $1.25 = $150.00AUS per fillup or 31.5g @ 4.18US = $131.00US every 4-5 days.
$2.70/gallon .......I WISH.....
