Im thinking the motor you pulled used Duraspark II.

Thanks for the great link. I imagine that I cant use the dizzy from the 300-6 in the V8?

I just looked at the wiring side by side and.... why the hell did they make it so complicated after 83? crazy how easy the II is. Does this mean the I will have to replace the Carb to an older model or can I use the current one?

The carb should be ok. it will have extra parts you wont need.
Plug the vacuum ports that you dont use and get a distro with vacuum advance on it.
