Turbos work exactly like a steam turbine, which I have a lot of experience with.
For example when our bridge crew had us steaming at 15 knots and all three boilers for my engine online and putting out 600 PSI at 650 degrees and they wanted to increase speed to 20 knots all they had to do was increase superheat temp to 850. Usually they would put bigger burners on the main side of the boiler too or increase fuel pressure but we didn't have to. Hotter steam made more work than cooler steam. When we went ***** to the wall over 30 knots they would increase superheat burners to max and the main burners to max.
More volume of steam at the highest temperature possible and we could really fly considering that ship was a small city afloat. All turbines are really the same no matter what turns them.
