I have a 78 F-100, 302. A few weeks ago it started to bounce as I approached 35 mph. I noticed that the brakes were rubbing really bad. So i replaced calipers, pads, brake hoses, and master cylinder. Now when I start in the morning it is fine...the brake pedal is real easy. As I drive and stop a few times...the pedal gets stiffer and stiffer and the bouncing begins. No power brakes. I guess the only thing to replace is the proportion valve?? Does anyone know how to get one other than at the dealership?? I have tried NAPA, Autozone, and several smaller parts stores..they all say you have to order from dealer ($125). Anyone have one they want to sell?? Could this be causing the problem?

Did you have the rotors turned when you did your brake job? They may be warped.

Would warped roters cause the pedal to get stiffer and stiffer as I drove? The first few stops are fine but it just gets harder and harder to push brake and the truck starts to bounce.

lt, Some of the other guys are a lot more up than me, but are the brakes too tight or not being fully released. I had a simular problem when I installed the new disk system and had the rod from the booster, into the master cyl. too long, and it was trying to apply brake. Seems like they would heat, expand, and tighten, doing so until finally the front tire was sliding.

Hope this gives you some direction.
