Need help with surging
I have a 2004 F-250 with 147,000 miles. Just had the inductive heating flash done approximately 30 days ago. Truck starts great, but a week ago the truck started surging/bucking. What I can't figure out is that it will run fine for a while then will surge/buck and then will run fine. I just changed the fuel filter and oil a head of time to see if this would fix the problem, but it still does the same thing. I was reading about the FICM, would the new flash cause damage to the FICM. At first I thought maybe an injector, but the truck starts good. The truck does take awhile to get moving on first start up, but that has always been that way. I did add hot shots this oil change, but no change in the surging/bucking. I don't know where to start. The truck will run good then it feels like it will misfire then run good then misfire. The check engine light has not come on.

ok so late build.
you may have an issue with the ebp sensor or connector. disconnect it and see if it goes away. if it does your issue may be there or with the vgt silinoid.also can be turbo related. with out a scan tool I cant think of a way to isolate it. sorry but at least it will narowe it down some.
If the concern is still there you can try to disconnect the egr valve and see what happens. it could be caused by a wire issue to the egr valve or the valve itself. this is a very rare issue.
The next and rare issue can be a high pressure oil leak at any of the high pressure fitting points.
I would think most common first either vgt silinoid or ebp senor and or connector.
hope this gave you a starting point.

the ebp tube is on the left manifold follow that little tube up and you will find it. it will be either on the ficm bracket or on a bracket maonted to the t-stat housing.
I use an ids with vcm and the vmm box when needed but that runs about $10,000 woth of scan tool. not so practical for the dyi guy. iM sure someone will awnser that better. Im a spoiled dealer tech.

Disconnecting it won't help. You need to remove and clean it.
Good instruction for that here...from the tech folder sticky: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/4...egr-valve.html
