So my friends 2005 f-150 5.4 3v with 114000 miles truck took a dump today. I don't know the full story but I put the edge on it and got the codes it threw.
As he said it, it was misfirimg like a bitch. His left side converter was bright red. Truck was shaking bad and had no power. Couldn't go much faster than 45-50 mph.
For some reason when I pluged in my edge it kept saying DCT Alert 7
The codes that I got are...
P0300 random misfire
p0305 and p0308 misfire on 5 and 8
p0316 misfire on startup within 1000 revs.
P0175 system too rich bank 2
p2198 sensor signal biased/stick rich bank 2 sensor 1.
I don't have a clue I'm hoping you guys can help out. He's trying to avoid the stealership!
Sounds like to me is that it might be one of a few things ,first you might have one or more coils going bad which would indicate a misfire, or one or more fuel injectors are startong to crap out .The red converter could be from a rich mixture caused from misfiring coil or coils, I would start with coil and plugs
Did your friend ever replace spark plugs? I don't know for sure, but I would say whether the converter is pluged or not it's probably toast. How come there are two converters? Can we go with duel converters legally?
