Times have changed in 76 I left colorado with everything I owned either in the toolbox or hanging in the gunrack in the back window of my 74 ford pickup with a tank of gas and 60 bucks to my name and drove to houston to find a job.
Yea but if you think about it now gas would be the cheap part
Gas was 49.9 cpg, now 249.9 5 times the price sounds terrible BUT
74 1/2 ton ford plain jane 3200.00 bucks now 26500 app. 8 times the price
rent back then 150 to 200 a month now you could buy that new 1/2 ford for the first and last month rent plus the deposit.
Wages back then I went to work for 5.00 an hour at 70 to 80 hours a week.
same job now pays around 10.00 at forty hours a week.
Now in my goofy way of thinking gas is the cheapest thing at 5 times the price other necessities 8 to 10 times the price and the same entry level job pays a whopping 62.50 a week less.
I sometimes am amazed at the progress we have made in the last 30 years.
