I am in the process af cutting down on some parts rigs on of which is an 85 2x IDI. I have already got rid of the rearend, front captain chairs, bolt on accessories off the motor and the grill. I am thinking about keeping the instruement cluster (tach), steering column and motor and tranny even though it is a C6 and I don't have any plans for it.
Also going away is an 85 4x4 with a 460 4spd thinking about keeping the flywheel to transfercase on it.
I forgot also an 85 IDI 2x 4spd but the body is super cherry on this one so I think I will use at least the cab on my 84 4x. I will be keeping the motor on this one for sure it was rebuilt then after a few miles a new IP and injectors. Then in less than 10,000 miles it started knocking on the top end pretty bad, there was some new glow plugs in the console and it had new plugs in it, I have an idea they may have broken a tip off but havn't opened it up yet. This one has new duals and glass packs from the manifolds back if they will work on the 4x I will be keeping them too.
LOL Joe if you were closer I could hook you up with some parts. I am keeping most IDI specific parts. But I get rid of body parts that guys in the rust belt would love to have but shipping is probably cost prohibitive. I am keeping MOST of my 70's 4x rigs I just can't bear to get rid of them and have a couple Of IDI projects planned one is a pretty nice half ton 78 and one is a cherry 78 bronco, I just think they will be very drivable and economical rigs.
Is there anything in particular you really need (no d60's)lol.
Were talking 2556.2 miles round trip at around 6 miles a gal 3 rigs at a time, I've probably only have around 30 left. so 10 trips =25562 miles ya think.
What I'm keeping is
1 3/4 79 C6 205
1 3/4 76 (the war wagon with a 6.9) 4spd divorced 205
2 78 bronco's 1 4spd 205 and 1 C6 205 both 400's
2 78 1/2 tons both 400 C6 1 nice 1 for parts
1 74 1/2 ton 4x 360 4spd single spd transfercase good motor and running gear for parts
various 75 to 79 2x's for parts one 77 ranger xlt is pretty cherry 460 and C6 runs good this body will go on the warwagon.
1 cherry 85 IDI 2x for parts 4spd
1 85 IDI 4x for parts (good motor and running gear)
several 80's gassers 4xs for parts
Getting rid of all cars, vans, rangers and semi parts rigs.
I think I even traded my 47 2 ton winch truck off yesterday.
also keeping my 79 F350 supercab wrecker (not cherry but low mileage and pretty good shape) except for the 400 I hate that.
One half ton and one cherry bronco body is slated for IDI engines the war wagon already has a 6.9 but is slated for a new one and a ZF5.
I have 99% of what I want RUST FREE but I do need a set of bronco buckets low back.
This stuff is not driven except for the wrecker occasionally.
What I drive is.
My baby 86 F250 6.9 T19 4x with a gearvendor unit, ats turbo, dually kit, supercab with captain chairs alcoa wheels, nerf bars, mechanical guages 2 yearold chocolate brown paint (cherry) I don't even like my wife to drive my baby it usually stays in the shop.
84 supercab 4x flatbed with built in boxes work truck with 91 7.3 engine every thing still works (cruise air etc.) pretty decent rig.
99 F150 5.4 triton 4x with some extras nice rig for a car.
what I actually drive the most beside a big truck is a 95 3/4 chevy extended cab 4x 350 auto this is my run around wearout rig actually it is a nice rig for a car too.
