Its a 4sp OD automatic common to the Rangers, Bronco2 and explorers(without V8 engine) Its a high failure rate in the early years.
After rebuilding the orginal and it failed year later, Got a 2nd one and rebuilt it, Lasted a week then failed! Found out later I got the oilpump in wrong...oops!
I would put a 300 big six in the Bronco2, but its tooooo long of engine and I'm not going to bash the firewall in to make it fit. I may put a 302/aod in insted.

Thanks 4 the info - OK, "high failure rate" not an option 4 me then. (Rebuilt it, oil pump NG? a trani w/an oil pump?)
The 300 IS in EBs. 1 guy moved the fire wall (seer Bronco Driver mag), another went Forward!?! (wow).
How bout a V6 4 your BII (nice Buick?)? Look on the net. They have a site full of conversions, How Tos etc.
