Y pipe connector alternatives?

So I just picked up a set of EFI manifolds, and a matched pair of glasspacks from my local junkyard. I was gonna grab the y-pipe as well, but there was only the one 4.9 EFI truck there, and it was already pulled. I'm planning to build my own true duals set-up from the manifolds back, so the y pipe would've been cut up (mainly for the flanges). Is there anything else I could get the flange connectors off of? Do they sell anything for cheap at a parts store? Any kind of generic alternative? Thanks!

Take the manifolds to a parts house and/or muffler shop to match up the parts you want. Whether it's cheap or not is up to you.

and post a pic of what your end result is! im currently working on building my own Y pipe since i don't really like the walker pipe that seems to be so popular. i managed to find a set of pipes that were crudely cut off about 10 inches from the manifold at the local u-pull-it, I guess I just got lucky...

The Walker is the least expensive option for an after market piece if one is going to single out. A dual out will have to be custom built unless one does cat-back duals and even that may have to be fabricated.

A part number search should find it for you.
As Harte3 said, it's an inexpensive option, and is great because it's a 2.5", which is definitely an upgrade over stock.

muscle truck 7379,

hi man, paul from md. can i talk with you, listen i have that famous walker y laying in the gravel under my 90 300 efi right now. honestly, i dont want to rag on it. it fits, other than hand built, it does seem to be the only viable quick way out for everybods promlem including me. and so forth, BUT LIKE you i just dont care for it. i have to use it quick like right now to get betsy back on the road. i BELIEVE the stock design including the crossover tube for cyclinder balance issues is SUPERIOR. are you bending your pipe or piecing with prebent or what, mind telling me. thanks up front. paul.

I'm using bits of old systems that are already bent, cut grind weld. If the Walker pipe were like $60 cheaper I wouldn't mind getting one to cut up.

That's a lot of pipe to be selling for $10 - $20. They're about $80 shipped. It's a lot of pipe too. They connect to the manifolds and run the exhaust all the way back to behind the doors and up and over the transmission crossmember.

However, if you're looking for just the flanges to make your own, you can also check Broncos and E-vans, they all had the EFI 300. An exhaust shop may have some to sell you too.

I looked in every Ford at the u-pull-it, mostly later 5.0 V8 C4C vehicles. It just seems a bit much to me since I can get a pipe for $6 there. Is there anything else that uses the same flange as the 300? What about the log manifold down pipe? Or the 5.0 V8 y-pipe?

coupla things,mostly

for you newrider 3,listen, i hope all you men understand i am not a know it all.i,m just trying to help here or give my 02 because i am going through this whole deal right now as we talk.
a.so far in my walk, everything that has been said here is just flat out stone correct, my every one, inc you newrider period.
b. pulled the copy. here in md i paid 83.76 for the w y pipe.
c.it DOE<S fit the e-series van efi manifold and frame because that is what i own.
.

1990 e 350 efi 300. 3 sp c4 410 rear with over a 180,000 th miles..
d.i would never by that pipe to cut it up. you might as well light your wood stove.
e. its the best ,fastest way out if that is what you want to do.
d. it is not a TRUE dual setup, it,s an okay pipe, but it is what it is.
e. and most important, i went back and read everybodys post, esp your first one 1 newrider and i see now that you got all this from the start. . it dawned on this morn that what you are really asking is for a shorty pipe or nipple with a flange that fits that you can build OFF of. and you know what, after i have allready way overspent for a setup that will work, but i just dont care for. i finally figured that AFTER you.
f. so here is what i am going to try to do. if walker makes what we need i aim to do my best to find it. and if i do, i intend to buy 2 and start all over with new nipples and old. pipe and i will post the part no. for everybody.
whew, did i say all that
later i,m on a mission now, my parts man is kick my backside grin paul md.,

The flange from the log manifold for the carb'd 300 is completely different.
