I'm looking at getting a 400 for a project truck and I'm a stick guy but don't know anything about transmissions. What would be my options for a transmission behind a 400 that i plan on putting a aftermarked cam, and farther down the road boaring it over but don't have that desided yet. Anyways can someone enlighten me?
I put a NV4500 behind my 351M. I love it! It has a granny 1st gear and overdrive. Bolts right up to the manual bellhousing with an adapter from Advanced Adapters. uses all the stock clutch linkage/pedal. You just need a different clutch disc. I highly recommend it
Running an NV4500 behind the Cummins, the only downside is the lack of factory and aftermarket support for parts. Might be getting better, but hard parts can be scarce.
