I have purchased a 351M from a '78 Bronco that I'm installing in my '73 F-100. When I purchased it, the seller removed the flywheel and shroud to avoid bending it in the back of my truck. Trouble is, the flywheel is weighted on one side, and I have no idea where the weight was when it was on before. How can I determine how to align the flywheel so the engine is balanced?
If you hold the flywheel up to the crank and look at the bolt holes you'll notice that all the holes will only line up in one position. You can't put it on wrong.
Thanks fellas. It was exactly as you said - it will only bolt up one way. So I guess I asked a stupid question before even attempting to bolt it up. Oh well, guess its better to ask a stupid question than not to ask and really screw something up bad! I'm quite good at the screwing things up part...
good advice captain and fordtech sometimes its also a good idea to mark and check each bolt hole for the right position, its a common mistake, you live and learn.
