1978 ford 400 flywheel wanted

Hey all. I'm having a heck of a time finding a flywheel for my pickup. Auto blew up so I got a 4 speed out of a 78 bronco with the 400m but the flywheel had a huge crack in it. If anyone has a flywheel I would be very interested in buying it please let me know if you have one. I'm in Anderson Ca. But can pay for shipping or whatever we need to do. I have a 351m in my truck and i bought the 12 inch heavy duty clutch so the flywheel has to be for a 400. Thank you very much

No-brainer swap

I looked around a little and came up short. Unbelievable! Find a 351M flywheel, they were more plentiful. It is the same as the 400 flywheel except for 6 little holes. The 351M/400 flywheel has 180 teeth to the ring gear.

Take the 351M flywheel and the new pressure plate to the machine shop. Tell the machinist you want him to drill and tap holes for the 12" pressure plate.
If you haven't resurfaced the wheel, this is the time to do it.

Add 6 holes and your flywheel will be perfectly happy with a 12" clutch.

I know this as I did it myself a few years ago. Getting the holes drilled, tapped and counterbored cost me $35.00. Getting the flywheel resurfaced cost another $35.00.

Okay thanks. I thought about that but I knew the 351 had an 11 inch clutch and the 400 had the 12. If I already bought the 12 inch clutch will the 351 flywheel be too small? Or are you saying overall diameter is the same? Thanks
