Cold Air Intake Question

I am thinking about going with the S&B Cold Air Intake Kit, But they have a dry flow element and they also have a oiled one i am guessing. I would like to know what one to go with or if i should go with a different brand all together? I have heard that you don't want to go with a oiled filter, is that true?

I forgot to put in my last post but i am also going to get the 4 inch turbo back MBRP exhaust system, is that a good idea? What would be the advantage of going with the 5 inch turbo back system be?

I love my S&B intake!I have the oiled filter and I like it.Its just a little more work to clean and reoil thats all.

The S&B comes at a good price and is a good setup also.

An oiled filter would be ok on our trucks since there's no mass air meter. I'd personally go with a dry flow element though and get a prefilter wrap for it. None of those high flow elements filter as well as an OE paper filter, so I always put a prefilter wrap if I'm using something like that. I prefer the Ford AIS since it uses an element that filters great. But the S&B would be my 2nd choice.
No real benefit to a 5" exhaust other than sound IMO. The down pipe is still going to be 4".

If you plan on keeping your vehicle for a long time like me, and get fantastic filtering with great air flow, go with the S-B. Feel like a sales person, lol, but I have the oiled element and its just a little more work, oiling the element. I have no knowledge of the dry filter, got mine before the dry came out but I'm sure its just as good. Here's mine, fits nice and its a little more quieter as its an airbox, very nice system. and here's with Pete's filter cover on it for extra protection and looks

If it were me I'd go with a dry element just because I don't trust myself enough on something as important to the truck as the air filter. New turbos are expensive. New elements are comparatively cheap.

Whatever way you choose to go I'd highly recommend you go through Riffraff can't beat the customer service and you've got to work pretty hard to beat pricing.

Riffraff Diesel: S&B

I'm running a 4" turbo-back MBRP I purchased through Riffraff and I have zero complaints. Basically the only reason to get a 5" is to be able to say you've got a 5" it's really no different performance wise.

Looks like he joined almost 4 years ago.

Where ya' been?? LOL

I like my 6637, and although it's not a cold-air-intake, it seems to out-perform or at least perform as good as the other (more expensive) intakes. If you're feeling froggy, you can close it in with a DIY box and make it a CAI.
