It could come from several sources, but I don't think it is HG.
It's more like :
- exhaust manifold gasket ( you might don't even have them, they don't install them in the factory)
- glow plug bus O ring leak
- most likely valve cover gasket,
- but it also could be the CCV leak. That O ring somehow just doesn't hold.

comming from below the right manifold could be oil cooler, oil filter, oil sending unit, glowplug buss bar right side, right side rocker box, hot side cac tube with a hole in it or a valve cover gasket.

I had the same oil leak location as you describe, Mike and had it repaired under warranty and it turned out to be the glow plug O-ring.

OK....Thanks for the hints. My 05 is under warranty so I will schedule an appointment to have it looked at.

Would this contribute tho the ongoing issue I am having. My issue is that when I am between 2-3K when first driving when cold, the truck sounds like it is missing. My 05 has been to the dealer and they put in New EGR(cleaned), latest flash and new FICM. Since then I still have the missing issue. The dealer says it is not throwing codes, but I am learning that this does not mean much as there can still be a problem. The next step the dealer wanted to check is the fuel pressure. It is funny....the issue only happens when cold. If I had a fuel issue whould it happen all the time? I dont tow anything, but when it is warm, going up hills in tow mode it does not happen. Also when I drive it like I stole it when warm it does not happen. One would think that if it was fuel it would happen under demand. Just my guess...I am not a mechanic. Also the reserve anti freeze bottle is low. Like a half inch to inch low..this never happened before. I also observed blue smoke...not normal one or two days. Then it is white smoke...for about 5 minutes. This is after the truck kicks into high idle mode upon start up. It also occurs during the first five minutes of driving. Sometimes...

Any ideas?

Sorry for the long winded post.

Thanks guys!

Mike

The only issue is that the dealer is giving me the, "We are no getting a code" deal. How do you test for stiction? I don't want to sound like a pain in the a$$ when I speak to the dealer.

Mike - what year model, etc. is your truck (I can't recall)? Any mods?

Also, if you are just starting to lose coolant, you probably should take it in. You could check around your hoses (specifically the EGR coolant hose) for drips (cold weather can cause that) AND pull your own EGR valve to check for wetness (w/ the truck parked at an incline).

If you have had stiction issues (spool valve polishing), then there really isn't anything to "reverse" it. Synthetic oil and the latest flash will help.

Mike you have a dealer problem. plain and simple. There are lots of things we can do with no codes... we can still fix a truck that doesnt have them. we have the tools to figure it out. Yes It make take longer and requires some trial and error sometimes. However there is always a logical path to follow

I had the exact same thing from the dealer closest to my house. I took it to a dealer in a smaller town (farming community, so more PSDs) that diagnosed it properly. I even told the first dealer the how to troubleshoot it and talked to the tech (not the service guy). They just did not want to do any troubleshooting.

The weird this is, kind of like you said, I felt like I was being a pain in their butt. I just wanted my truck fixed! haha

Well, the EGR delete, exhaust, programmer took care of my problems!

Yup...dealer issue. I just thought I would keep my business in my home town (near by) but I am now thinking I will not. I am going to post and see if anyone has any central NJ dealer techs that can work with me. I am a strait up guy whom wants to find a dependable tech. You never know...once the warranaty runs out I might have some side work for a good tech.

Any suggestions or you know of somone please let me know.

Much appriciated all for your suggestions and comments as always.

Mike
