i oput the new one one. i have just about new everything and when i put it on it clicks 2000 times a minute. the wts light works fine now, before i would just shut off. i thought it was just a ground problem. traced it back and cant find one. getting really frusterated about to hard wire a button in ( if i didnt already pay for all this!!) lol. can anyone help?
i bout a brand new one from NAPA its the newer controller not like on the old 6.9's. its grounded fine and all the glow plugs have been replaced two weeks ago
Did the new controller include a new relay or are you using the old one? The problem could be in the relay and not the controller. Your GP's are on the tail end of the scheme and wouldn't cause the chatter your getting from the relay. If all else fails, return the controller and go with a manual pushbutton.... My last controller cost my me 8 glow plugs and 3 hours of time replacing them.
it came with the relay, and before that i bought a new relay and left the old controller. i really wish the stock setup would work, also considering the money i put into it. so i would really like to fix this problem. it just seems nothing is working
If your getting relay chatter you have to have a bad connection somewhere. Check the matting surface where the controller sits (this acts a part of the ground in the stock set-up in the 87' & up) and check the small posts of the relay to make sure all the connects are good. Its possible (yet unlikely) that the new relay is bad, but you can always try the new controller with the old relay to see if thats the problem. Check the voltage from the ignition terminal of the GP relay (small post with the red wire) and make sure that your getting proper voltage.
