Hey all, been gone a while, but what brought here in the first place brings me back again. I have a 2002 escape with 88k miles 3.0 auto 4x4 xlt. Generally I really like the little thing but this has me worried.
Driving to work today it started to shutter, pretty hard, at first I thought the tire went flat until I turned down the radio. It was knocking bad. I pulled off the road, and left it running, went through the gears all ok. the knocking continued for a few minutes the quit, the CEL blinked a few times then went off.
please tell me it's not what i think, I just bought a SCrew and don't have the money to fix this thing. Pne thing I'm going to check when ileave here is the oil, the pan has been leaking, and i'm hoping it's just out( that's bad when you hope you're out of oil) any info will help Thanks, Rod
You should have a code store if the CEL flashed. I'd start by getting that read then repost. I sure hope your oil isn't that low to make it shudder. That would be bad.
well I haven't had the code read yet, probably this wkend, but it hasn't happened again( knock on wood). The oil was about .5 qt low, the reason behind hoping it was low was thinking the oil pump was starving.
Which brings me to my next question, is it possible for something to have been blocking the flow of oil to the pump? and once it broke loose start working properly
