First of all, before I did anything, everything was cool. The problem started after I took off my steering wheel, fixed the turn signal switch, then threw everything back together. When I went to start the engine, nothing happened. The starter didnt do anything. I moved the gear shift up and down while holding the key to start but still nothing happened.
I know it's got a safety switch somewhere but I'm not sure where. There are no wires on the tranny where the shift linkage connects so I dont know where it might be located.
Maybe my starter/relay just happened to crap on me, I dont know. Does anyone have similar problems or have any suggestions?
The safety switch is behind the dash on top of the steering column. It's actuated by a little tab clips to the shift tube inside the column. You may have to drop the column to get to it. I haven't got that far in my project to tell for sure. When you fixed the t/s switch, if you removed the end piece (the plate the switch mounts to) from the column, the tube inside probably sprang up towards you a little. Maybe it was just enough to break the tab off or hopefully, it just got misaligned. Good luck.
Hey, I took yer advice and checked the safety switch. Looks like while i was tinkering with the blinker, the steering column moved enough to allow the metal clip which triggers the kill switch to pop out. I didnt notice this right away because it was still in place, just not doing its job. Needless to say I re-installed the clip and I'm back on the road.
