Dana 60 questions
OK, Im in the process of building my truck to be completely stout.....Got the Dana 70 rear end but want to put a 60 in the front. The only one I can find is out of a ch#*y so, obviously the dif is on the wrong side....... Looks like the axle tubes are plug welded into the dif housing. Is it feasible to cut out the plug welds and swap axles tubes and axles,discs, etc side for side? I am an accomplished weldor and dont have any problems w/ building a jig to set my caster angle up correctly, just need to get some info from anyone that has done this sort of swap. One more question....This front end is out of a one ton truck so it has the dual style wheels......Are the outer axles any different to accomodate those wheels? Looked like the disc has a bolt on extension to run dual type wheel..... Thanks for your time and info. OK OK Just one more thing......Finding a dana 60 out of a Ford is not a reality here..... I live on an island and I KNOW where all the old parts are....
