I just installed an inline gauge/filter from Summit, I wanted to see what my mechanical pump flowed before I install the electric pump/regulator.......Anyway, The gauge read 2-2.5 PSI even lower when you throttle it, Is this acceptable for stock pumps?? I hope not. The pump Im setting up should keep 6 psi to my CARTER 625.
Yes I installed a brand new filter with the gauge. It drives strong, but I wouldnt know if its leaning out at higher revs, the plugs look greyish,I would like to know what you guys are getting from your mechanical pumps, and electric at that, what worked for you, may work for me!! THNX!
according to my chilton book, you should be having about 6-8 P.S.I. on your mechanical fuel pump. On an electric fuel pump, i not sure about that, sorry. Hope to help a little.
Iam using an Amfac electric pump. It puts out 5 psi, as is.. But, I do think the Flow rate is kinda weak. I seem to have a `lean out` problem AFTER hard full throtle acceleration
I have to back off to let things catch up..
BUT not al electrics are created equal! some pump at a higher rate and some are better at Pulling the fuel from the tank. others are HIGH preasure and flow for racing.. I do know that iam going to replace this one as the budget katches...
i hate to spend 105.00 or so for a holley pump just to pay for the name and have to run a regulator to boot..
Any suggestions on other pumps would be nice
ps: Edlebrock says don`t go over 7 psi!!! for there carbs
The summit pump/regulator kit (Part # SUM-G3132)
is actually a Holley pump and regulator , it is just sold as a summit part.the holley rebuild kits are what you use to rebuild these pumps so they are matched at least spec-wise.
