Have been looking through old posts, I seemed to remember Ed having an OEM ball joint kit put together that had all the seals as well as ball joints, but can't find that thread. Does anyone remember that thread, or am I just getting senile?
Decided 125 k out of the OEM ball joints isn't bad, and think I will go that route on my replacement, hence my asking.
Good deal, Ed's good people and you'll find Clay just as nice, they both got great customer service and great to do business with, more of a friendship than anything..
This is my second order from Ed, if it is half as fast as the last, I would be more than happy. I can't even come remotely close to his prices with shipping included here locally, price I pay for living in BFE.
Looking forward to working with Clay, this is just phase one of my plans, but its a start, get this thing breathing in and exhaling deeply should help considerably, especially since this truck came from Cali.
I bought a ball joint kit from another vendor and saved a few bucks from what I paid locally for last ball joint job. BUT, when my shop did ball joints 2nd time, they turned the old ones in to auto parts and Moog/O'Rielly's honored the lifetime warranty.
FWIW, the first set on F350 lasted almost 200k miles. I bought the ball joint kit from another PSD vendor like Ed for the Excursion but ending up doing ball joints again on the F350 (after over 100k miles) and using the 'kit' on it. My shop told me the ball joints they took off F350 had a lifetime warranty, so 'next time' they'd be free parts. Well, next time was a few weeks later when they did the Excursion for me - with no-hassle, free parts!
Being the kind of person who keeps his junk for a loooong time, the lifetime warranty stuff always seems to work out in my favor! Doing business at the same local auto parts helps, but reciepts still make it easier... Ok, the 'lifetime' starter from napa got old after the 3rd one failed in one year - hopefully the big, bad Denso 'super starter' will last longer!!!!
