I'm looking at a 1986 F250 4x4 with the 460. The owner say's it's a three speed with overdrive. I thought it would be a C6, is this going to be an AOD or something else?
I believe he is mistaken. The c6 was the only auto offered with those engines until around 89 when the E4OD was offered. And as you know, the c6 is not overdrive.
I have noticed people lately seem to have a problem describing their transmissions. I just went to look at a truck with a guy the other day, and he told me it had a 4 speed. Later when where getting ready to go look at it he told me it was a 1993. I told him it should have a 5 speed, he say's "oh, it's a 4 speed with overdrive". I guess they get this from the shifter lever because it has "1-2-3-4 and then OD", but i still consider this a 5 speed.
That's what I thought. I was thinking he was talking about a manual tranny but he say's it's an automatic. Now I have not been to look at the truck, so could it be a 302 or 351 with the AOD? Ihope he just thinks that the D for drive is over drive. Thanks for your help!
