No Anti Rattle Clip on Brakes?

I am in the process of changing brake pads on my 1991 Econoline, The Pads I took off didn't have a anti rattle clip on them, My new pads have one in the package in the Brake pad box, I can't for the life of me figure out how to out this clip on the pads. Any help?"?" I know it goes on the inside pad, just can't figure out how.

If this looks like a U with a post on one side, it is not an anti-rattle clip, it is a brake pad wear indicator. It clips on the side of the pad with the post pointing towards the rotor. When the pad wears enough, the clip rubs against the rotor. Depending on what you have (no picture) it goes on the bottom.
