adjusting my idle?

i have been spending a lot of time working on my truck recently and all my buddies have strokers and one of them has a lope in the idle because he put in the resistor mod. i was wondering if there is any way to make my 7.3 IDI lope when it is at idle. just wondering if it is even possible with my truck. thanks in advance for the help.

I don't think so, Strokers have engine computers, that's why you can make 'em do more weird things than on an IDI.

Now I'm confused..... Why on earth would you want your truck to do that?

Yeah Why? If your idle is turned way down it will lope but that's bad for the engine.

That is a gasser a diesel is not made to run at low idle more so if you have a turbo.
I have worked for people that would fire you if climbed out of a truck without setting the high idle.

Absolutely canned. It's called wet stacking. The engine at low rpm runs so cool the rings don't fully seal and the fuel doesn't completely burn and ends up washing down the lubrication in the cylinders and you get premature ring wear.

you cant turn the idle screw low enough for it to idle down no matter how far you turn it your still limited by the min/max governor assembly, when i changed and put my 4500rpm spring in i misplaced my low idle spring so i stole one out of a spare pump but i couldnt get it to idle below 1000 rpm, but then i found my old spring and put my low idle spring back in and left the 4500 rpm big spring, and now i have the 550 rpm idle and 4500 rpm rev limit which is just perfect for me
