Won't start
97 7.3 Have had the truck 4 years, only problem was the fuel pump which I replaced about 9 months ago. I have noticed that it has been starting a little slower, not starter slow but a little longer to start.
Yesterday I was hooking up my trailer and the truck started idleing rough but after about 3 or 4 min it cleared up and was idleing normally, ran around all day without any problems. This morning it was 25 deg out, started the truck and it was ideling rough and in about 5 min shut down, I restarted and it ran about 20 sec and shut down.
I replaced the filter and tried to restart ... no start. Normally I hear a humming like a rear pump when I turn the ignition to on but not today, there is not a pump in the rear so I assume it has been the electrical tank switch mounted on the frame by the front tank. I checked the fuse and when using the tank switch in the cab can hear the unit ckick under the truck.
I checked the valley ... it is dry. The fuel bowl only is full about 1/2 now ... before replacing the filter it was full. Any suggestions?
Is it in the fuel canaster?

Its towards the top of the canaster on the regulator side. (drive side).
Dont think its your only issue but it will help the canaster fill with fuel.

Just saw other tread
Check the transfer valve.
Are both fuel tanks 1/4 or more full?

If not remove the wire off the fuel heater and replace the fuse.

I tried to saty in the other thread but when I tried to enter in the previous thread the site had an X by the thread with a note in the margin that I had 9 entries and that was the limit so I started a new thread.
Crawl under your truck find the main cam shaft and on the bottom edge you will see the sensor. Remove the keeper bolt and then the CPS. If you replace it and there is no difference keep the old one inside the cab somewhere as one day you will need it.

Replaced the CPS, canaster fuel heater fuse (it blew again .. must be short ) disconnected the canaster wire, replaced the fuse just as the replys to my thread suggested and it started right up.
