E4OD " Slam "

That's what I call it. It feels almost like dumping the clutch on a stick. Only does it going into OD & not every time. Seems to vary in strength according to RPMs ( may be why I don't notice it sometimes ). Has just had flush & fill w/ new filter. Can't be good for the U-joints. Makes me a little nervous, don't want to buy another tranny or bust a U-joint. " Old Rusty " '91 F-150 302 E4OD Reg. Cab, Long bed. Mileage unknown, long story. At a guess, 145,xxx. Side note, 12 MPG just running around back & forth to the job, gas station, etc. sound about right? No highway driving, never get up to speed & hold it for more than a couple minutes. All local driving. 150 miles, 12.5 gals. My cell phone calculator says that comes out to 12.

I don't know if this will help or not. After I got my transmission rebuilt, my transmission did the same thing. It felt like I was getting slammed into from the rear. So I took it back to the shop, and he said there is a check ball in there, that he didn't put in because newer transmissions don't have them, so he took the transmission out and installed that little ball, and now it works the way it is supposed to.
Maybe that ball in yours got stuck some how when you got the flush and fill. I'm thinking some crap got stuck in the little passage way, causing that ball to stick open.

Ya my e40d started doing it as well. I put some sea foam in it about a month ago and maybe it loosend something up. I would suggest running some seafoam through the trans and then changing the oil after a thousand miles or so.

Did it too before. One of the reasons for the flush & fill.

If that'll help, it's worth a try. Just going to be a pain changing the new filter. Hoped to put some miles on it first.

Thanks. Think I'll try running it for a while. Haven't put very many miles on it yet ( just back from Tech School for a bunch of stuff ). Hoping it'll be like you said, just some crud coming loose & it'll clear up.
