My 2002 f250 7.3 diesel has been running great. Then when it started getting cold and i would start it up it would start up a little rough then run pretty good til i go to take off then the check engine light will come on and it starts shaking and missing pretty bad. i keep going and as it starts to get warm up a little bit the check engine light will go off and it runs smooth until i give it a little throttle and it comes back on and back to running rough. it does this till it is fully warmed up for about 5 minutes then light goes off and it runs smooth as can be with no problems. It does not do it again unless i leave it sitting for awhile or stop and turn it off shortly after its warmed up. I also have noticed my MPG has gone from around 18 to around 14 or 15. please help. anyone know what it might be
Autozone won't be able to read your codes either. Our trucks take a special type reader, the cheap ones won't work for engine codes.
How rough does your truck run? Sounds like you might have a loose UVCH issue. Read this thread and see if any of it sounds familiar. There's instructions on how to check for this with an ohm meter. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...ck-shakes.html
I had a real problem with mine running rough when it was cold cranked. It would shake like it was flooding out or something. Then it quit dead one day and it was the computer under the drivers fender that worked the injectors. I replaced that and it never gave anymore cold crank problems. good luck
thanks yall i will try some of these suggestions. i will let ya know what i find out. hopefully its pretty simple and cheap. im not real good when it comes down to this electrical stuff and under valve covers.
ok guys i got my truck looked at and it was the injector/glow plugs on both sides and the number 2 injector was pretty much shot. but i just wanted to inform yall that i got it figured out
