Im not sure, good question. Seems a little silly that they would have so many emissions requirements and not have a minimum MPG requirement.

I mean for the most part we know they arent gonna be no honda civic on fuel, but they should be able to do OK.

I also wonder if those emissions people realize that by having lower mpg, there is more fuel burnt = more nasty stuff in the air!

Nothing showed up, but the turbo boost is exhibiting abnormal behavior. I never had a regen for a long time and maybe I have some DPF plugging because I am now experiencing them almost every tank (mileage is about the same as a semi!!!). If nothing can be diagnosed I guess I will drive it very hard until it blows. I want to do a DPF delete w/programmer but I am fearful that the reliability of this thing isnt going to be great either. I will sell this truck very soon if it does not improve. I am certain that this whole era of emissions regulations has redefined the merits of having a diesel truck!
I will book it in next week or the one after - been crazy moving oats piles all week.
We are using 2 augers loading together, one into each trailer of the super b's and the bobcat is pushing - feeding them both together. Loading is quick but the elevator line ups are long. Total grain moved for the week will come close to 65 or 70000 bushels. I wish the money was ours, not going towards paying crop input bills!

I am looking at updating my truck, I need a crewcab I am running out of room in the cab. I won't be buying a new one but I am not sure what to get. There is a nice 06 F250 in Moose Jaw and an 06 F350 in Swift Current. By the time I make my mind up they will propably be gone. Oh yeah then there is the one on the SGI site but it will propably go high.

Im pretty much in the same boat as you Colin. I am in the market for a crewcab dually diesel, but right now im just too hesitant to buy anything.

Ive done way to much research on the 6.0's and I know the kind of problems that alot of them have. It costs alot to modify one to be "bulletproof" and even after that, they arent always bulletproof.

The 7.3 is great, but it is getting older, and mileage is always somewhat of an issue. Plus they need modification to have a little comparable power.

Then we have the 6.4 which is OK, but has terrible mileage, which is also an issue.

From what I can see, if you are planning to get a 6.4 and not remove the DPF, then a V10 will do the same job, same mileage or better, and way less cost to purchase, cost to maintain, and less doubts of catastrophic ($$$) failure once warrany runs out!
If a guy is planning to use a programmer and DPF delete >> different story...

Then it comes down to cost though eh Warren? Cause I mean a V10 is cheaper, especially after all the mods and whatnot.

Im sure the diesel would pull better, both stock and modded, but then there is still that cost factor, and to really utilize a diesel over a gas, you have to be towing pretty damn heavy one would think!

Interesting thought though for sure.

I would agree with you guys, that's why I was looking at a V10 a lillle while ago. But now with the new superduty gas and diesel engines I think I will hold off for a bit and see what they are like. If ford does put that new 6.2l gas into the f150, I think I would go with that. It should pull what I need to with ease.

mpg vs comfort

Well, I had a v10 it was OK, I guess....never buy another... Now I got F350 Harley 6.4 with 30,000 km runs great ,mileage is not good ...but still a better diesel than a 6.0 .I have it for sale so I can buy/try the new 6.7 diesel F450 HD that's coming out next model year.Only if I hear the engine is good .If I don't sell it (F350 HD) I will put a edge programmer and 5" pipe and DPF delete.Customers till me there getting 100 km more per tank...I am get 9 MPG pulling 10,000 lbs trailer at about 120 to 140 KMH.Its STILL the best truck I have for comfort and I have a Dodge diesel that gets better mileage but not as nice . Bad mpg is still better than GMC DIRTYMAX diesel.... THATS JUST MY OPINION!
