No problems with my Motorcrafts I bought this spring($100 a pop from the dealer!) Going to be -46 tonight
I don't usually put additive in the tank, just what the fuel stations put in their tanks. I put some of the Howe's stuff in last night cause I ran the tank pretty dry.
I have been running red top Optimas for two years now and no problems. Tha last Interstate batteries I had lasted just over two years and I dont have the frigid weather where I am.
Did you know Advance and some other part store's will match WalleyWorlds price on the everstart MAXX for $75.00. Advance Autocraft Gold regular $103.00 for the same as the WW battery. So 2 for $150.00 they will match if the CC amps and warranty are the same they don't advertise this but if you ask they will. Or at least here they do.

Another vote for the Everstart MAXX batteries. Bought mine last week, very impressed. Had some near 0 weather this week and cranked right up with the truck plugged in.
My Batteries died last week and I ended up getting some 1040 CCA Deka batteries for a pretty good price. They are made here in east TN from Exide I believe and they are a good reliable battery

Thats some serious cranking power there Justin, bring on the cold you say... Real good batteries.
my 2 choices would be optima and interstate batts... best 2 names i know of out there... granted i havent had to deal with -40 but my truck kills batteries either every year or every other and so far the interstates holding up in it...
I am running 2 Optima red tops and have had them in my F250 for 5 years and in a tahoe for 2 years before that. Not to mention I have never plugged my truck in during the winter for those 5 years.
Just replaced the original Motorcrafts in my '03. Went with Interstates because of how they have lasted in my farm tractors. I had a set last 8 years in my big tractor that sat summer and winter. In the past I was lucky to get 3-4 years. I use Interstate in most vehicles and have had very good luck with them. Just my experience.
I actually got them both for 152 bucks out the door So far they have worked out great for me.
Because of that grin there Justin, which door, front or back door, lol..

Just replaced my stock Motorcrafts 3 weeks ago too Mark, looks about a 5 or 6 year life average.

I knew the starter was spinning more slowly than it did last winter so had planned to replace them this winter. I was at a sale a few days ago with a temp in the 20's. The truck sat for 5-6 hours and when I went to start it, even after letting the glow plugs work a little longer than usual, it had to crank quite a bit longer before it fired. I kept in the back of my mind the info about the minimum voltage to fire the injectors (thanks to FTE) and was getting worried. I've got a digital voltmeter on my compass/temp thingy but it wasn't plugged in at the time. Would have been interesting to see what the voltage was.
