Well not quite chitty chitty bang bang, more like buck buck die!
I was chuggen in to work at ZERO-dark-thirty and my truck bucked 2wice and died at about 70mph and 20 miles in to the commute.
I pulled over and cranked it a few times with no "fire". I could not tell if I was getting smoke or not b/c it was to dark. I unplugged my ICP and it fired up (I have 2 10K pots but I have taken them out of service for the winter so don't let the sig fool you). It is parked right now w/ICP still unplugged.
What do I need to do next?
Thanks
COPE
I've had problems with the 10k mod to, but not as bad. It seems that the wires get hot once you exposed them and it tends to act up. Mine would run eradically sometimes until I played with the ICP wire.
Try putting some heat wrap around it if you haven't already.
I have them soldered and heat wrapped in to a militiary grade quick connect cannon plug. I wonder if the problem maybe at the actual plug itself? I will look around again now the sun is up.
Thanks for the suggestion, FARM69!
Any other takers?
Actually , when you get the chance, look at the sensor itself , it may have oil seeping from it . Replacing it may help ,a cheaper test than an IPR ..Make sure the IPR nut is on & the wiring to it isn't shorting out..
Thanks FARM69 and Rick!
Rick," Its your oil cooler .... " REPS SENT!
Thanks for the places to start. I shot some coil cleaner in the ICP and the IPR. I'll see what happens. I did not see any oil in the or around the ICP. How do these components cost normaly?
WOW! That little POS is a buck 80!!??
I don't think it is bad but I don't know how to troubleshoot it and I don't know the symptoms of a bad one. I may pick one up the next junkyard trip I go on.

They are on flea bay for a bit less from time to time , & you can try partsguyed.com ..A sponsor here . Could have been a bad connection there also ...
Rick, what are the symptoms? Is it a go/no go type component, like run or no run when it is bad?
ALSO, if it runs better w/o it, why is it there? AND why does it "pop wheelies" with 20K ohms slowing it down. Lastly, who put the Dip in the dipty dip doowip and who put the Ram in the rama lama ding dong?
Thanks
There are tests for the ICP ,scanner & VOM. I 'll see if I can find them . The PCM reads the ICP to regualte the IPR . It may have lost signal ,when the PCM is not seeing ICP as expected (unplugged) it uses other inputs to regulate injection...
When the ICP out right fails , it is supposed to set a CEL .
I believe (could be wrong) that , if the reason IT quit was a sticking IPR , unplugging it makes the PCM call for an ICP of 700 to start , a little higher than ICP is at Idle .
Thanks Rick! I unplugged the ICP not IPR. If I unplug the IPR will it do the same? Also what is that component just above th IPR? It is a sensor w/two wires plugged in to metal tubing that I assume has some kind of liquid.
While I have your ear: I was just out there w/brake clean. While the engine was running, I sprayed around the turbo, Y pipe and other places where the intake is. My thought behind was, if there is a leak I would hear the idle kick up some. I did not notice any change in the idle. Did I just troubleshoot/test the intake connections?
EDIT: My CEL light does not work. I think it may be burned out!!! TRUE!

I would guess that is the EBP sensor

No if you unplugg the IPR the truck wont start. and that is the solenoid of the IPR with the connector.
