which carb?

SEVORG '78 F150 351M

right now i have a 2150 motorcraft 2 bble , but i'd like to get an edelbrock carb and intake. the only problem is i dont really know which one to get . i'd like to get the most proformance i can without sacrificing mpg. which is better 2 bble or 4bble? i've heard 4 bble's produce more horsepower but bad mpg.can anyone really tell me the pros and cons of 4bble's and 2bble's. i already have my mind set on edelbrock. any help will be much appreciated. thanks in advance.

If you are just changing the intake and carb, then consider the Edlebrock #1406.(600cfm)electric choke. It is very forgiving and can be re jetted for more get up and go later. For god sakes don`t over carborate the stock engine. You won`t be happy with the mileage
Seek out the Edlebrock catalogue at your Parts store.More info is there.

sev, rebuild your existing carb. for the most bang for the buck. The big Ford engines aren't short on carburation to start with. The alu. intake and four barell are pretty to look at, but are a pain in the butt to keep new looking. I added a four barell to a 352 and really couldn't tell any difference in performance over the original.

If you find that you must have one, 600 cfm is all that you need, and an Edlebrock 1406 is a good choice.

If you're in the market for an Edelbrock manifold for a 360 or 390, I've got one you can have dirt cheap...$20 (to cover the postage). I found it at the dump and it needs a lot of cleaning and some minor repair (2 bolt bosses are chiped). e-mail me at wlnsln(No Email Addresses In Posts!)

I got the edlebrock 2000 performance catalog right in front of me. and yeah the 1406 looks like a good carb, and it says calibrated for maximum fuel economy.
For intake i think the performer series intakes would be fine....
Edelbrock is the best for bolt on performance.
