Easy 5.4 Mods

Just signed up.
I've got an '07 FX4 w/the 5.4 and stock 275/65-18s and a 2.5" hell bent steel leveling kit and a 1" rough country block in the rear. I would eventually like to run 33s or 35s if they fit.
Met some guy w/an '06 Supercrew and Roush supercharger kit who has an Edge Evolution programmer and says he loves it but he can't use it anymore w/the Roush kit. They are going for $350 online and would eventually like to do the easy stuff: programmer, cold air intake and a new muf.
Anyone do all 3 and what do they think? The '06 roush guy said all the cold air kits are pretty much the same. The Edge guy said that the truck will run lean w/the cold air kit and evolution and that the evolution can only change the timing to fix it and that I would have to play w/the timing to find out how much/little. He also said the big power gain would be from the programmer and the cold air kit would make only a marginal gain as would the muffler.
Any thoughts?

hes right... kinda lol
if your going to run a tuner anything you use with it will lean the truck out. to much lean... BOOM.
not all intakes are the same. K&N's and air raids suck hot air from the engine bay
volent and S&B styles suck from the outside air thats colder.

exhausts wont do much but make your truck louder. the loudness will signal to your brain that the truck is faster cuz of the noise.

if i could go back to day one. id go charger or go home.

If you are going to run a CAI, get a custom tuned programmer like SCT. The edge can take timing out to avoid detonation, but that does nothing to correct the problem of lean A/F ratio.
