I have looked all over for some headers for my `75 F-250 4x4 with a 390 and havent found any except the ones JC Whitney has, and I hear they hang awfull low. Does anybody know where I could find a good pair that doesnt hang below the frame?
The year of your truck caught my eye! I just bought a '75 F250 4X4. I love the truck except it's of course the full time four wheel drive. Did you convert yours or is it stock? Do you know what has to be done to convert it so it operates like most other Fords? Thanks in advance.
My truck has the factory locking hubs, I dont know anything about those full time ones. Ill look in my book and see what it says. If its a Dana 44 it surely isnt to hard.

That's strange, because they are roughly the same set-up, except mine is an automatic. I'm not so worried about gas mileage, but the wear on the transfer case. The transfer case has a neutral position, and a high position with a lock and low position with a lock. I don't understand anything about these "lock" positions, except maybe it helps to keep from popping out in the rough stuff...that and it makes a cool blue indicator light come on!
I wouldnt worry about the T-case. I would worry about wear on the axle. Do you know what T-case you have? I have a NP205 and it goes like this
4L
N
2H
4H
The lock probably means it locks the transfer into 4 wheel. I think you can just get a set of aftermarket hubs like the warn ones for $60 or less. do you have the old style closed knuckle axle and power assist steering? I do.

Sorry about not replying to your E-mail....for some reason, I don't have success w/ the link I get to whomever I try and reply to. The Wrecking yard where I found my 2X FE headers, had a 4X FE w/ headers as well. It is called Affordable Auto Wrecking and it is just north of Boeing Access road on MLK
I live in Issaquah WA and have a set of flowtec 4x4 390 headers sitting in my shed.
I went with Stan's headers and won’t be using flowtec's.
If you really live around here I may be able to help you out.
part time kits for full time transfer cases were quite common in the mid late 80's i think warn made one may still be available find a 4x4 shop with a few old heads they know what you need you have a new process 203 case the hi is for hiway the transfer case works like a differential tranfering power front to backwhen you put it in loc position it just mechanicly locks both axles just like a part time case so you have power at both axles at the same time this will cause driveline bindup if you use it on dry pavement just like a part time the biggest problem with full timers is that the front axle is allways locked and it takes power to turn the axle
