Thanks for pointing out my error, you can tell I'm a novice with these diesels, but I have always done my own work on gas engines, including a rebuild. I saw the rubber inserts for the lift pump to IP fuel line and thought all the fuel lines were the same. I've spent the morning cleaning up the fuel lines & transferring stuff to the new pump. I'm taking the wire wheel to the fuel lines, then I'll treat them with OrthoPhosphate to arrest any rust, then paint them with heat resistent paint. AND then, the intake area is waiting for me, quite a mess in there.
I'm gunna get a set of the 12 piece stubby combination wrench set suggested by Macrobb. Any excuse to get another tool.
Has anyone put a sealant of some sort on the "olive" before reassembling: I hope that my wire wheel cleaning is not gunna cause leakage in that area! All of these parts look to be original with the grey paint. I had to go slow using a solvent a few days in advance to make sure the steel caps were not frozen to the steel lines at the injectors.
