trailer special
anybody know of or have a trailer special truck that I could get some wiring off of it? I'm needing a couple pieces of the original wiring for the trailer / brake control wiring. If you do, PM me and I'll let you know what I'm looking for. Kinda hard to describe on here. OR have you seen one sitting in a salvage yard somewhere? what's the name of the yard and location?

As far as I know Trailer Special's didn't come with a brake controller. That was an owner add on.
Here is what came with a Trailer Special. This is info I've compiled for the 78-79 Bronco but I am most certain it would be the same for the F-series.
Trailer Special:
Light duty trailer towing package:
Good for towing up to 2,000lbs.
This package included a heavy duty radiator, external oil cooler, seven lead trailer harness, heavy duty turn signal flasher and the Trailer Special emblem on the T-gate.
Heavy duty trailer towing package:
Good for towing up to 6,000lbs.
This package included a heavy duty alternator,heavy duty battery, HD rear shocks, bigger radiator, rear sway bar, swing out recreational mirrors, amp meter, oil pressure gauge, HD front springs, external oil cooler and the Trailer Special emblem on the T-gate.

Scott, thanks for the reply. yea i know the brake controllers were an owner added thing; however there is a Ford wiring harness that you connect the brake controller to and it "plugs" into the wiring system for the trailer lights. I have the brake controller harness, now i'm looking for the rest of the wiring that goes from the cab/engine compartment back to the rear bumper to the trailer connector.
OH and BTW: Still looking for a CB antenna......any leads to one anyone? lol

I have never seen that harness for the brake controller, interesting. I have seen (and you might want to email him) tcase or whoever that is on ebay list quite a bit of special wiring harnesses. He once told me if I needed something to give him a call. In fact he has a supercab on ebay now with his phone # listed in it.
Funny you mention that. I was just down in the basement last weekend going thru my stock and just looked at those 2 antennas. If I didn't have a need for them I'd gladly sell you one. I haven't seen anymore yet but I'm always looking for that rare stuff.

Scott your killin me with that teasing!!! You don't know how tempted I am to just unscrew the one from the truck sitting at our local ford dealer. I am not a thief but the thought has crossed my mind lol.
I have been working with Bill to find the rest of the wiring harness for a trailer special and of course "no NOS or obsolete parts vendor has any" lol. so.....it's to junk yard scrounging which is next to impossible around here since all the old trucks are gone / crushed and right now in the dead of winter and a blizzard it's too damn cold to do any junk yard hunting. lol
