will it hurt my truck to drive for a few days with the wires uncliped from on top of the ebtv sensor? i think is been acting up lately and havent had time to ake it appart
thanks
well just from other threads
power loss and weird sound rushing air or somthing. does it when cold clears up when fully warm
sounds like it is functioning properly. The function of the EBPV is to buildup heat in the cyl's and help the engine warm up faster...hence it only activates when the engine is cold and will cycle occasionally until the engine is up to operating temp.
someone please correct me if I mispoke and welcome to FTE
No, it won't damage anything, you just won't have use of it but the shhhh or airplane sound your hearing is normal, that helps to warm the motor up faster.
well the problem for me is that its like on off on off unless i'm hard on the throttle it will do this even if plugged in until the temp reaches the halfway mark, id be fine with it if it was intermittent but i think its a liitle exessive
Well, you got to remember, its getting cold out there now and its going to come on more frequent. Mine comes on at startup and when I depress the brake pedal, it shuts off and when I go down the road and maybe park and let it idle and its not up to temps yet, the EBPV will kick in again giving me that airplane sound out the tailpipe. When it sticks, like it did to me once before, I didn't let it warm up, I just took off out of my driveway and when I pulled out into the roadway, I mashed down on the pedal and the truck wouldn't move, sluggish bigtime, coasted into a store parking lot and after turning around there, it unstuck, giving me power again. Thats how you know if its sticking, no power..
Yes mine is doing the same thing as yours is pat. I understand what it does but mine is coming on even when the engine is up to temp and has been for a while. It wont do it when I lay into the throttle. But I think mine is quite excessive as well. I live in michigan and yeah its getting cold so i figure it will be on more but not when the engine is up to operating temp? Only happens below 2000 rpms. Idk if this is normal or not.
I just recently aquired this super duty as I have been wanting a diesel/stick for a long time. So this is my first. I was searching for this problem and I just came across this forum and had to join. So Hello to all!
Also I had a guy that owns a diesel repair shop here look at and he said it is even excessive and shouldnt be doing it. He couldnt remember what caused it off the top of his head but said he had a service book from ford that had what caused it. He didnt get to it today but said he would tommarow. Ill post what he says.
same as mine with the rpms
i think i'l clean the tube as suggestedin the other thread i read and see if its better i think it just keeps doing it too long while i'm commuting in the morning
