Thats is how my truck started this morning.... turns out I didnt plug it in. I was going to, and it turns out when I closed the garaged door it unplugged it.
New glow plug relay is perfect, yesterday it took about ten minutes to start.
At -5 degrees I'd be pretty happy with that. Coldest I have tried starting mine was 10F without being plugged in. Mine started fine but it sure didn't sound like it was happy about it till it warmed up a bit.
You had 80 seconds of gp on time at the startup.
Motor romped, then pulled out of it, then settled at high idle.
Wish i could have seen the smoke at the same time.(amount/ how long)
It shows me your gp system is fine (100%).
What you see in the vid looks to be fuel system related with amb temp.

The truck smokes for about 2 miles before it all goes away.
What does the EOT do to help starting? Does it raise the timing, in essence using the piston placement closer to the head when it sprays fuel? Meaning you dont need as much heat to start?
The EOT has a huge role in the cold start.
With what a saw in the vid i would go with oil first.
What oil is in the truck? A 15 is to heavy at your amb temps.

Bill, i wish you could have heard the way it was running and it did it until the engine was fully warmed up. what do you think the problem could be? it was shaking the truck violently and it sounded like the injectors were all firing at the wrong time. sounded horrible unless if it was above 1500rpm, then it ran smooth, but still didn't sound good at all when accelerating.

How cold was amb temp?

temp was only about 35*. the day before was a lot colder and it started perfect. started fast with a bit of white smoke, no romps, smooth as when its idling when its warm, but of course at about 800 rpm.
the truck sat for about 12-13 hours before that start up.
the TE pump is probably about a year to a year and a half old.
injectors were just put the first weekend of October and glow plugs were replaced at that time with motorcrafts and UVC harnesses were looked over real good.
oil was a day old when that particular cold start took place due to the install of the new oil cooler on saturday night w/ new coolant as well.
i'm going to go ahead and order a stancor GPR just so i know that mine is good. i haven't replaced it in the last 3 years i have owned the truck so who knows how old it is.
just didn't run like it was the GP system that was the problem. truck didn't idle smooth til it was all the way up to running temp and i would think if it was the GPR then it woulda smoothed out as the engine got a little warm instead of waiting til it was up to full operating temp to smooth out.
