Is it possible to add dual tanks to a truck w/ just 1 tank. What I'm mainly refering to is the electrical connections under & in the cab. I have a truck w/ dual tanks so I have all the parts I need(tanks, straps, fuel lines, dash switch, bedside, etc.) Is the electrical stuff ran from factory & just not used? Or am I going to have to add everything? Thanks.
Anything is possible. If you already have the parts you know you need to mount up a selector valve and run the new lines and wires for the pumps. As for the trucks coming with the connections factory im thinking no, but I have been told they made one harness to make things easier. Maybe someone else knows for sure. But, it is possible.
The wiring inside the cab should be there, just unplug the selector jumper and plug your selector switch in place of it.
You will have to run the wires from the under hood dash to the tanks however.
It looks like you are working on 1990 or newer trucks so you will not use a selector valve.

Thanks, Bill. I think I know what you mean but I need to make sure. You said under hood dash, I'm thinking the underhood power dist panel, right? & since the wiring for the rear tank is there already, I would just have to run the wiring for the front tank, correct? Is the wiring for the tanks A plug & play from end to end? I could just take it out of my parts truck if that is the case.

No I mean the firewall plug that has the cab wiring on the other side and the wires from the plug run to the fame and to the back of the truck.
These two wire may already be there and the plug for the front tank may be taped to the harness near the where the tanks mounts. So I am not 100% sure if the wire are there or not under on the frame but would think not.

Yes if they not there you will have to run them from the firewall plug to the tank.

Yes if you take the frame harness from one truck and put it on the other.
Is the '93 a short bed? If so you may want to measure the front tank legnth. I'm pretty sure they didn't install the front tank on 4x4 short bed reg cab because of transfer case/gas tank clearance issues. Just saying. Good luck.
The frame wiring harness I am talking about is the C205 wiring harness.
C205 is the firewall plug.
Thanks, Bill. As always, you are a wealth of info.

Yep, it's a shortbed. The thought never crossed my mind! Thanks, Big, I'll check it out at lunch.
