Okay, and from the selector valve it is a single line to the lift pump? Reason I ask is I am trying to pinpoint a fuel leak and it seems to be more when I am using the front tank.
if you looking down at your lift pump from the top of the engine, there will be two lines, the one on the right is the suction from the tank, the one on the left feeds from the pump to the filter, there is also one below these two that feeds from the filter to the pump again where it goes through the pump and into the back of the heads, these truck run a dual stage pump, diaphram on top, and a piston pump on bottom.
does it leak while running or when shut off??? and where is it leaking, there is also a return line from the regulator on the side of the filter housing that runs down to the selector valve that could be leaking too.
I can't really tell where it is leaking from, seems to be from one of the above mentioned areas, fuel will collect on the top of the engine, can you use some of that UV leak stuff on fuel?
Not sure about UV leak detection but...the Fuel pump weep hole is hard to see. I'll bet that's your leak.
Clean the engine valley real good. Get lots of light and mirrors, restart the engine and start your search by looking at the bottom of the fuel pump where it enters the block.
FYI - I had fuel leak with fuel collecting on top of 96 7.3, then running down back of engine. Dealer said a small plastic part had broken loose from side of the fuel assembly on top of engine, and I had to replace entire assembly for about $600. Took my F250 to a private shop, they said sorry they only worked on big trucks. Thought I finally had one. They recommended another shop, where Dave (now retired, unfortunately) put a hose clamp around the assembly to hold the loose part tight. Has worked fine for 6 or 7 years.
