well $670 for the lift and i was thinking that about $700 for tires because they arent cheep and i was just going to roll the 3.08s till i upgraded the transmission.... and i dont think the 33's will make that much of a difference... lol the way i calculated it i will do better on the highway with them lol thats funny how would cab lights look and do they make smoke tented led ones like for the super dutys

Sorry Hitokori but you need to do a little more research. Even if you had a 351 the stress your engine would be under turning 33's with 3.08's would be pitiful. Your fuel mileage would tank. If you want to have any power at all you need to re-gear the truck. 3.73's would be perfect for 33's.

I'm assuming you're going with 33's, by the way. What size tire are you wanting to go with? What engine does your truck have? I seem to remember you saying you had a 300.

im gonna agree with bill, i have 265/70/17 on my truck approx 32". i had 308 gears when i first put them on and it was a complete dog in town, mileage also tanked about 2 mpg. highway was better though and i didn't really mind them for the time as i was doing alot of highway driving. got about 18.5 going 75mph. but i hated it in town and put in 373s. MUCH better in town IMO

well my truck doesnt have over drive just got the crappy c6 for now and i was thinking about 373s or 411's if i could find a complete rear end because i plan on putting a locker in it too.... just dont have the money for it right now... so how bad will the acceloration be with the 308s?

MAS96F150, what engine do you have? 302? Good looking truck, post some pictures!

Hitokori, you're going to want to gear that truck to turn over 33's, especially if you have a top-end oriented engine (the 302). Even if you had a torque monster (351 or bigger) you're just straining everything by trying to turn over tose tall tires with high gears.

Locker is a decent idea, just research the pro's and con's. I have a locker in my F-150. No real complaints, just something you need to keep in mind is back there.

Acceloration will suck, you'll have to rev the motor up twice as much, your fuel mileage will go down the toilet and you'll be killing your engine.

You can't expect to get any money back from aftermarket parts. Some people actually prefer buying something unmodified, me being one of those.

Can you instal a ring and pinion? If not, factor in the price of a shop doing it.

yea rear ends are kinda my specialty lol back bout 2 years ago when i was in high school my shop teacher had a certified gm mechanic come to teach me about the setup.... the back lash and all that good stuff... im going to look around for an entire rear end that i can just re do the brakes on and check the diff. for wear... thank god its just a 2wd lol but if it was 4 i wouldnt have this issue.... i was kinda hoping to do this before i had to buy new tires that way i would only be buying one set instead of 2... coz mine are old.... do they still make lemans A/Ts lol they still got tread but they been on the truck since before i baught it so 8 years that i know of......

That's great man. You can save some serious cash by doing it yourself.

Good look on the project. I'll be keeping an eye on his thread!
