Looking at a 05 F150 King Ranch. It only has 51K miles, one owner and I have run a CarFax.It came from Adesa Auction. It appears someone tried to break into it, and/or vandized it by evidence of dents above the door handles on both sides. Drivers, passsengers, front and slide rear windows have been replaced. I think I can hear glass beeds in the botton of each door. it runs good., computer shows avg of 14mpg. non smoker, very clean.
Squawks: 1.right mirrow turn signal inop 2.neither mirror adjustment works,3. moon roof very slow and sometimes will not open at all. 4.has aftermarket remote that doesnt work to unlock. 5.bexel that covers the radio enviro is loose and will not snap back on in the lower left position.6. constit raddle on the ash tray little presuure or opening it stops it. The swithc for the sliding rear window just makes a motor run. The window will not move. Can be moved by hand. (rear windoe maufactor "FoMoCo".
I need inpouts and opinions. I HAVE OPTION UNTIL TUESDAY to buy
I can get this truck for KBB Trade in "fair" of $16,700
My personal opinion is do it...all of the issues equate to flying with about 5 degrees of flaps. If you are good at mechanical stuff(as I THINK you should be)..none of these issues will be a major problem.IF you like the truck overall, and have the funds.....well...you know
Thanks. i'll probably buy it. Too good a deal to pass up. Ifigure the decrease in MPG will cost me $1500 per year. But oh well!
i will have more questions if I do.
What manufactor do you reccomend for a tonneau cover?
Scott
Personally I have a LUND tri-fold.Love it. my photos of the ole 07 are on Pictures by n5926g - Photobucket. You should be able to see the cover, and flares there.

beware... Carfax etc don't have ALL the vehicle's history. I own an Explorer that's had two minor accidents in the past three years. Both repairs were done by a local shop, paid for by the insurance company. When I run the VIN, NOTHING shows up about the accidents/repairs. Kind of makes you wonder what the heck the search is actually good for. The damage you describe sounds kind of like the truck was broken into by a bunch of crack heads.
...re-reading the description of the truck condition sounds more like "poor" as KBB describes the body, etc.
Personally, I would pass, unless you have a buddy with a body shop... JMO
it has obviously been broken into...and whoever did the damage did a number on the trucks electrical system
either that...or the truck has been in a flood.
but the way you describe the windows and alarm issues...leads me to believe that theives went in there hacking and slashing stuff. Mechanical stuff is 1 thing...electrical stuff is a nightmare from hell
It sounds almost like a "stolen-Recovery"
... and possibly found at a chop-shop; then re-assembled by request of a local knuckle head insurance rep. or bought from a LEO auction as is by a shade tree/bodyshop and "rebuilt" for hopes of a quick cash-flow/turn-around.
I am in with tylus and the rest. I would only buy that truck for $1500 and below. It obvious that some one was successful in breaking in. By the way you describe the trim piece, it appears that they took little care in getting the radio out and probably butchered some wires in the process. May have also butchered wires trying to get the alarm (aftermarket you said?) to shut up. The alarm is nothing but the remotes and a siren connected to the "brain box" that sits under steering column wired into everything the truck does darn near.
