I took the grinder to the ol' PSD yesterday. Ground off the old bumper mounts and got the new ones shined up. Called a welder friend of mine and made an appointment for Thursday. The new mounts (from the donor truck) use the same rivets (soon to be bolts) as the front Cab mounts. Hard to get at to grind and I don't find drilling works too well for me. I'll get him to cut them out with the torch or something and then replace them with bolts. Then he'll have to run a couple beads and she ready to go. This will allow me bolt up my Reverse Shackle kit and start to actually mount the front end. Pics are in a new album in my gallery. RSK mods album. Fresh this morning!
Sweet!! Checked out the gallery this morning, didn't realize you were converting to 4wd, you have some nice pics in there. Noticed a 78 or 79 truck in one pic and a couple of 51, 52 mercs. Thats going to be a nice rig when your done! Do you have an air hammer or chisel? If you do, grind the head of the rivet down the center first to fatigue it, then use the air chisel to remove the rivet head, then switch to the air hammer pin and knock the rest of the rivet out. We put a lowering kit on our 77, we had to change the front spring hangers over, and thats how we got the rivets out holding them on.
Unfortunately, I don't have an air hammer or chisel. Never thought of that. May have to make a trip to Princess Auto. Thanks for the comments. I'm pretty excited about it.
Most of the trucks in the parts truck gallery aren't mine. They were in the yard I got the red 4x4 parts truck from. I'll update the RSK gallery as I get things together.
Pics are easy, first step open a photobucket account, its free and very simple, if you guys want, open one up, and Ill go through the rest of the steps. Its just as easy as posting a post, or thread!
I just ordered another part for the PSD. Getting the Bushwacker cut-out fender flares. Just for the front of course. They should be in next week!! Christmas is coming early.
