Power steering question

I'm new to the thread and f100 ownership, so howdy. I just picked up a 72 f100 4x4, which I love, but I need some power steering BAD. I've read quite a few articles so far, but which swap would be best beings that there seems to be some differences for swaps depending on the year and whether it's 4x4 or not? I'm trying to do this on a budget too. Any links or advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to FTE! On my 67, I'm going with a steering set up from a 1979. I'll have to have the steering box modified, to have it rotate 180 degrees from stock. I'll be using a column out of a 78/79, and the power steering pump from the same.

Thank you! I'm loving my pickup so far. The girlfriend isn't a huge fan yet but she'll come around! Is your 67 a 4X?
I found a P/S setup out of a '70 2wd at a pick and pull, but the steering box was way up by the firewall, where as mine is closer to the front grill. It had the bracket, pump, and everything else I would likely need, but from the looks of it I would have to mount the box where mine is now. Is this possible to use on my 4wd setup??

Yeah, mine is a 4x4. I don't know if you can adapt the 2wd steering box, since it's configured so different. You could use the pump, I would imagine, but I'd keep looking for that 4x4 steering box.

Good point, I'll snag the pump when I can. Anyone have any idea if there's a steering box that doesnt need to be reworked? Or at least how much it costs to have the box reworked...

If you can find an original one, off of one's, I think it will bolt right up. Since mine is off of a later year, it will have to be reworked.
