So today we got a dusting of snow just enough to slick up the roads at every corner where everyone stops too fast! So my dad and I decide its time to haul off the scrap metal from the shop and hook the trailer up to my truck since he was working on his truck. And we're off!
Few minutes down the road we stop at the first stop. Little slick but no problem. Second corner, 4 vehicles in the opposite lane waiting to turn. And I slow and start my turn. And then the Dick Cepek tires decide they don't want to hold traction and the front end just pushes right though the corner! SMASH! Head on into a newer chevy half ton and the trailer pushes the back end though and sides swipes a Honda Minivan! MiniVan dad (not the driver) is out of the van with 911 cussing up a storm before I can even get out of the truck. Chevy old man is fine but not happy. I can't blame him I just smashed them both up!
My plow frame took the blow and took out the bumper, grill, headlight and header panel of the chevy. The plywood and 2x4 side of the trailer hit the van and took out the slider door skin, rear quarter and rear bumper cover. Once the cops got there we drove the van away and then tried to separate me and the chevy. NOPE hooks good. I dragged him backwards as I tried to back up. Called the wrecker!
Got them apart. Damage to my truck......Small dent in the bumper and a slight bend in one tab of the plow frame. About 30 minutes worth of work and I will be just fine. Everyone else who didn't cause the accident.....well they didn't make out so well.
Gotta love the true built for tough trucks haha. Glad to hear everyone is alright.
My buddy hit a newer ranger with his 96 and all that happened to it was a broken headlight bezel and the plastic on the bumper got messed up. I towed the ranger and let just say it left on an insurance flatbed haha.

c'mon just tell the truth. you were trying to drift that corner with 12klbs on a trailer!
good to hear you and your truck are ok!
Mitch
Glad everyone's ok. Had a similar experience with my old Bronco. I was driving along talk'n with my buddy and the car ahead of me slowed down. I wasn't paying close enough attention till my bud said that car isn't slowing it's stopping. I was also pulling a trailer so I didn't want to cut the wheel too hard and jack-knife but I did slam the breaks and head for the grass. I clipped the rear bumper/quarter of the Toyota and stopped on the grass. The lady stopped to let a golf cart cross the road, GRRR. I put a dent the size of a quarter on the bumper and cracked the turn signal lens on the Bronco and totaled the toyota. The two pass side doors were jammed, the roof was really wavy, trunk lid smashed, and bumper cover/taillight smashed. The upside was her car was a lease and the reg and insurance had lapsed. So no ticket for me I drove away smiling.
Wow, glad your ok Tim. as i read that i was thinking that truck was toasted til i got to the end. thank god everything turned out ok for you. sorry for the others in your wreck, but maybe they will learn to drive real trucks???
Glad everybody is OK Tim. I guess you won't be towing with slick roads anymore. LOL
I had a similiar siituation too. I rearended a Town car on the LIE in NY once. It wrinkled up both quarter panels, demolished the rear of the vehicle. The trunk popped open when I hit it and in I went. Yes I went into the trunk. You could see the marks on the top of the rear bumper where my leaf springs scrapped over and into the trunk. I believe it was totaled.
I had to replace my bumper, and polish out the scratch on the hood where the trunk lid came down on my hood. That is absolutely all.
