auto parts guyss cant find the gasket that goes beteen the intake manifold and the spacer plate that your carb bolts on.got gasket for the egr valve on the back.got spacer for carb.any one know what i am talking about.?the gasket is made of the same stuff ,,like exhaust gaskets,am i right?my trk is a 78 f-150.4x4,with the 351m motor, manuel trans.been to ford dealer, napa, car quest.shucks,,,please enlighten me....I KNOW SOMEONE know what i am talking about. thanks..
It's a special steel-woven gasket. It's made as such to withstand the high heat under the spacer. You can get them online; use Fel-Pro. Don't get the paper-thin junk.
If you can't find a new gasket and your original is in ok shape you can get the gasket material and cut your own. Mcmaster sells high temp gasket material like the original gasket is made of.
anyone know where i can get the gasket material to make the gasket,it has to be that special stuff, thats like exhaust gaskets,...no where can i find the gasket that goes between the spacer and intake manifold..can find one for the 351w,not351 or400.isnt that odd???if i can find the gasket material, will make my own, gettin mad here.you think it would be easy to find one, crap, they umpteen 351m and 400 motors,?//
You can cross-reference the gasket part number through most any auto parts store website. It's not worth your time cutting one because you can get one if you look enough.
www.mcmaster.com pg. 3417 Extreme-Temperature Compressible Graphite Gaskets. (Takes 850 degrees which should be ok) Theres is some on the next page too. The gasket off my 302 is 1/16" thick and has a metal core.
Like FMC400 said your best off finding a precut gasket because it will be cheaper and cut better than you can make. But if your out of options get the material and make your own. You just have to make shure you cut the gasket cleanly and accurately which is more difficult with a metal core gasket.
thank you dkf,not only did you help me find the material i need,,but that site is awesome for tools and such, thank you much, dig this site alot, keep on learin...
