I have had 2 powerstrokes . Not much more than normal with smoke . You are absolutely right about the ethor . It is parked now and from now on the only way it will start is the right way. From talking to a few people when i put it back together I did not put the check ball into the area where the screen and nozzle go . So i think it it lossing pressure when you shut off the truck because the check ball does not seat because it is not there

still depressed

well lets start on thxing all of you for your helpful advice. I have fix many of the problems but still have issues. I had misplaced the check ball in the fuel filter assembly . I got a new one with new orings. Put it back together and boom it started right up . I was so happy for five min . Turned truck on and off keep working . I went to plug in scanner and the truck died . Will not start . Got it going the wrong way . Took it for a spin worked great . Got check engine light and when i got to the next set of lights when the truck idle came down then stalled. I disconnect the batteries when i finally got home . My scanner for some reason will not clear the codes . I have gotten a bad cam sensor code and a low or high icp code. Replaced the cam sensor twice . Fuel pressure is good . It is very strange that it start right up for the first time in a long time . But didnt do it again . Bad computer ? sensor need help gonna snow soon and need it to plow . Thx in advance

Check the icp sensor.
Check wiring and connections.
Also see if you have oil in the electrical side of the sensor.

icp is brand new . Wires all look good , no oil in the electrical area , and no leakage . Could the no start or stall be a bad cps . I replaced twice . Wasnt sure if it was bad but had a spare so if igured i would try that .

now cps code

Ran truck last nigh then died. Had scanner and could not clear the codes with the computer . So i took the batteries of last night to clear the codes . Put batteries back and it started right up. Stopped it and started it a few times everything is good. The stopped and tried again. It would not start no fuel smoke etc. Put scanner back on and got p3304 code cam sensor intermittent signal . changed the cam sensor from the recall then bought one , swapped back and forth a few times . Any ideas . I think i fixed all the other problems . Bad wir or could i have 2 bad cps in a row? Keep in mind i have a black cloud that follows me

Sounds like low hpop pressure. Black smoke is from fuel injected at low pressure and not atomizing. Truck should start when cold. When oil warms, truck dies. When the truck does not start, you should be able to disco the IPR harness and you should hear the injectors clattering. There are lots of posts on this site regarding this. If you need a hpop core, let me know.

oil

The truck has been sitting for a couple of hrs . In theory it should start. I have tinkered with this for 50 hrs. I have an engine out back with 118,000 i think i am just going to change . I would say it is more like white smoke than black .
